Jagdish Prasad’s son, Pooran, performed the last rites on the banks of the Yamuna in their ancestral village of Ishapur. Pooran said, “We are three siblings, I have two sisters. My father was an inspector in the Haryana Police. We received news that an accident had occurred at the Surajkund Mela due to a swing breaking. My father stepped forward to rescue the 13-14 people trapped there. He safely rescued those people, but in this attempt, he himself was martyred. This is a wound that will never heal for us, but we are proud that he saved the lives of others.”
Martyr Jagdish Prasad was given a salute with state honors by Haryana Police personnel at the crematorium in Laxmi Nagar. Condolences were also expressed by the Uttar Pradesh Police during this time.
